Marvin Kaleta is back in the first-team picture at Rotherham United after a frustrating start to the season. The 22-year-old attacker has recovered from a hamstring issue that kept him out of action in August.

Head coach Alex Bruce confirmed the player's return to fitness and issued a direct challenge. "He's back to fitness, and he needs to keep working hard," Bruce said. The manager made it clear he sees potential in the summer 2025 signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"I rate him. He needs to get going. He's had a tough time with injuries," Bruce added. "He needs to work on his fitness and get himself to a certain physical level because the talent is there."

Kaleta was due to get minutes in the recent Jersey Mike's Trophy tie at York City but has yet to feature competitively this term. He made the travelling squad for the League Two opener at Cheltenham Town before suffering the setback and was an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup against West Bromwich Albion. He warmed up with the squad before Saturday's 1-0 win at Northampton Town but watched the match from the Main Stand.

That victory, secured by a Paul Mullin penalty, moved Rotherham up to 14th place in League Two with nine points from seven games. The Millers are now preparing for their next fixtures, a home match against Crewe Alexandra this weekend.

Bruce also played down an injury concern for midfielder Ossama Ashley, who came off in the second half at Sixfields. The boss described it as "just a little bit of fatigue" after Ashley, who scored in the 3-3 draw with Salford City, had put in a strong shift. Bruce praised the attitude of the entire squad, including those waiting for their chance.

"I've been really pleased with the lads who've not been in the team - those who have been subs or who have not even made the bench," he said. "I know how frustrating it is when you don't play. I've been there. Those lads will get their chance."

Kaleta made 19 appearances in his debut season at the AESSEAL New York Stadium and will be aiming to add to that tally soon. Fans can check the latest squad information as the team builds towards the Crewe fixture.
