Rotherham United has appointed Lee Clark as their new manager in a bid to avoid relegation from League One. The former Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City boss takes over the struggling Millers after the sacking of Matt Hamshaw, who was dismissed following a heavy 5-0 defeat to Peterborough. With Rotherham currently sitting 22nd in the league and six points adrift of safety, the club felt it was necessary to make a change to secure their status in the division. Clark, who has been out of management for four years, previously managed in Sudan and Oman, and his first match in charge will be against League One leaders Lincoln City this Saturday. The decision to part ways with Hamshaw was made with a heavy heart, as he was in his first managerial role after taking over in March 2025. The club is hoping Clark's experience will help turn their fortunes around and avoid relegation back to the fourth tier after spending 13 years in the second and third divisions.
