Rotherham United has made a significant move by appointing former England manager Steve McClaren to the newly-created role of head of football. The 65-year-old joins the club following his resignation as Jamaica coach in November, after their failure to qualify for the World Cup. McClaren's primary responsibility will be to provide strategic leadership to Rotherham's chairman, Tony Stewart, and the board on football-related matters, especially after the club's relegation to League Two last month. Chairman Stewart expressed optimism about the value McClaren's extensive experience will bring to the club. McClaren's impressive managerial career includes leading Middlesbrough to a League Cup victory and a UEFA Cup final. He has also managed several clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Derby County, and Newcastle United. His first task will be to assist in finding a new manager, following the departure of Lee Clark after Rotherham's disappointing season, where they finished 23rd in League One, 11 points from safety.
