Rotherham United have signed former Brentford and Southend United midfielder Dru Yearwood on a free transfer. The 25-year-old has penned a one-year deal with a 12-month extension option.

What happened?

Yearwood left American outfit Nashville last year and after months on the free agent market, linked up with Rotherham for a trial. He impressed manager Matt Hamshaw in pre-season training and starred in friendlies against Bromley and Harrogate Town.

Why it matters for Rotherham

The signing of Yearwood is a significant boost for Rotherham, who are looking to revive their fortunes in League One after a season of decline. As of 25 Jun 2026, Rotherham are 23rd in League One, with 37 points from 42 games, and a recent form of LLLDL.

What comes next?

Yearwood has become the club's fifth signing of the summer and the fourth permanent addition to the Millers ranks. Ted Cann, Lenny Agbaire, and Kian Spence have all joined in permanent deals, while Dan Gore has returned to the New York Stadium on loan from Manchester United.
