Rotherham United have completed the signing of Ewan Otoo from Dunfermline Athletic, marking their seventh summer addition. The 23-year-old Glasgow-born utility player has signed a two-year contract with the option of an additional year. Otoo, who can play as a left-sided centre-half, wingback or midfielder, impressed during his trial with the Millers, showcasing his versatility and combative attributes in pre-season matches. The club finished 23rd in League One last season with 37 points, nine wins, ten draws and 23 losses from 42 games, ending the campaign with a run of four losses and a draw.

Who is Ewan Otoo?

Otoo began his professional career at Celtic in 2019 before joining Dunfermline on loan in 2022. He helped the Pars secure promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt, making 11 appearances during his loan spell. After signing permanently for Dunfermline in June 2023, Otoo turned down offers from League One sides Stevenage and Crawley Town last summer. His ability to operate in multiple positions makes him a valuable addition to Rotherham’s squad as they prepare for the new season.

Why did Rotherham sign Otoo?

Rotherham manager Matt Taylor has been keen to strengthen his squad with versatile players who can adapt to different roles. Otoo’s experience in Scotland’s top flight and his ability to play in defence and midfield make him an ideal fit. The Millers have been active in the transfer market this summer, and Otoo’s arrival adds depth to their defensive options.

What’s next for Rotherham?

With the new season approaching, Rotherham will be looking to improve on their 23rd-place finish last season. Their next fixture is at home against Port Vale on 9 January 2027, with the visitors sitting 22nd in the table. The Millers will hope that Otoo’s versatility and experience can help them climb the League One standings.
